On 29 September ChatGPT grew a word processor. It is called Space, the documents in it are called Pages, and if you have a Pro, Business or Enterprise plan it has quietly taken the place of the Library tab. If you are on Free, Go or Plus, you can read a page somebody shares with you and that is all. This post is what Space and Pages are, who gets them, how they differ from Projects, which you probably already use, and where a page in a chat app stops being the right place for a page. Everything below was checked on 29 October 2026 against OpenAI's own help pages, which is where every quotation comes from.
๐ช What Space is, and what a page is
OpenAI's getting-started article defines both in two sentences. "A page is an editable document. For example, you can use a page for a project brief, meeting notes, a research summary, or a team update." And: "A space groups related content. You have a personal space, and you can use other spaces to organize work on a topic or with a team." Spaces hold folders and pages, and a page can hold subpages, "so you can keep a summary and its supporting material together."
If that sounds like Notion, it is because it is the same shape: pages inside pages, inside a workspace, with people and now an agent editing them. The marketing page is less shy about it, calling a page "A new type of document built for work you do with agents" and promising that "Pages can stay updated from your connected tools". The help article, which is the one that has to be true, says that the keep-updated part is not there yet. Pages come from three places: "You can start a page from a conversation, begin writing directly in Space, or use a template from Space home."
What ChatGPT can do to a page is the interesting half. You edit the text yourself or ask for a change, "the whole page or focus on one section", and "Pages can include charts, trackers, and interactive tools created by ChatGPT." Comments work the way they do in a document: "Select the text and add a comment describing the change you want." And OpenAI's own caveat, which deserves to be on a sticker: "Check names, dates, calculations, and source information before using or sharing the page."
